No problem at all, Neuschwanstein Castle is one of those places that I would love to visit, and your image definitely enhanced that desire

Hey, questions; did knights bring their armour with them on pilgrimage during the middle ages? And if so, were the armour in their hereditary colors or a color 'scheme' sat forth by the faith?
π: 0 β©: 1
MrElagan In reply to TheSniper534 [2016-02-21 18:06:51 +0000 UTC]
I would imagine it would depend heavily on the situation, if they were knights in service they would most definitely have to wear their coat of arms etc. It would also depend very much on the safety of the pilgrimage, which was largely the reason why the Knights Templar for example existed in the first place; to protect the pilgrims traveling to the Holy land. So I would imagine they would probably travel on some sort of "official business" while wearing the representing color of their Lord and House, or of course Military order like the Hospitallers, Templars, Knights of the Sepulchre etc. I would guess it does depend a lot on how official the trip is, and how safe it would be.

One thing is sure though, an awful lot of knights going pilgriming and sightseeing would effect the local Muslim population, with possible ill effect... Just think about tourists nowadays...

Heh, thanks a lot, I should really try to do more though, been so lazy the last couple of months. But damn, that portfolio is coming along nicely, a really unique and modernist style you got going for you, good stuff and keep it up !

Well, as mentioned on my piece, it's all from last year. Just late on uploads. I'm currently doing a monster piece for a state art show, which the individual scales are taking forever.

Damn, is the state art show paid work? In that case it would be pretty awesome.

Hey, here to recommendΒ a YouTube channel with Norwegian Folk music (: www.youtube.com/user/Vikingskoβ¦Β ) and to ask if you could explain some about your stamps, they sort of seem to express your general interests and your political opinions, but some seem really specific.

Been to that channel a couple of times, there's some good stuff on there! As for the stamps, anything you wonder about in particular? I'm more than happy to answer any questions

I adore the Templar order and you render them beautifully in grey scale. (You were one of my random deviant discoveries and one I didn't want to lose track of). I do apologize for the inbox spam, but I fell in love with your art hard and fast XD

No need to apologize, inbox spam is a very welcome surprise ^^. Always awesome to see people appreciating the Knights Templar, makes it more fun to draw them as well! A sincere thank you for all the compliments, I value them greatly

They have such a rich history, wonderful regalia, and so many secrets... I enjoy researching a lot of the early (relatively) Christian Groups, Gnostics and so on.... They're vastly under appreciated...Β
You're welcome n.n I hope it makes it easier to keep up the excellent work. It reminds me I have to stop being a lazy ass and draw my Templar Knight XD;;

I agree, the Knights Templar are amongst the most amazing orders to have existed ! You should definitely draw some as well, it's quite inspiring to honor these wonderful people through drawings

It'd tragic what happened to so many of them =lΒ
I will, just haven't in a while. Will have to hunt for my old costume references, given there's no point if I mess that up XD. One of my characters, Lucas, was the embodiment of "an heir, a spare, and one for the church."
I have a deep connection to the Templars and Byzantines <3 (It's amazing the artifacts you can buy on ebay)
