So yeah, I watched LIFEFORCE and I absolutely LOVED EET!!!!!
I mean, don't get me wrong, when the opening credits started and I saw Golan-Globus on the screen, I thought
---but then all these trustworthy names followed--Peter Firth, Steve Railsback, Patrick Stewart,
Tobe Hooper, Henry Mancini (awesome musical score!), so I settled back and just watched...I was not disappointed!
Mind you, I watched the longer, director-approved cut instead of the theatrical release...
Mathilda May was lovely!Β And scary!!Β Especially when she possessed Patrick Stewart---didn't see THAT coming!

however, I still have a reaction to it.
I see it as a flawed movie. Great potential, but a terrible misfire.
Even the nudity didn't do it for me. And I snuck down late at night to watch it for the nudity. 
(Awww, youth.)
But it just wasn't that great. And the effects really didn't do it for me either.
And to this day, I still can't understand the story, or follow it.Β And I do know it, and have had to explain it to others. Repeatedly.
...but I still scratch my head watching it.
I still feel: Great potential, terrible misfire.
It still reminds me of a weird Dr. Who movie.Β

Really?Β It made sense to me--I mean, shape-shifting space-vampires!Β I got a Lovecraftian vibe from the alien ship, too.
Put it like this: LIFEFORCE is a great movie, for a Golan-Globus production!Β Head and shoulders above all the other schlock they churned out.
