No worries! There aren't many drawings based on the Eastern Roman Empire, so you stand out a lot. I'm very interested in the Norse trade routes that went eastwards, so the connection to Byzantium interests me as well.

Truth be told, trade with the Norse isn't discussed all that much here (as opposed to the Rus), but I hear there were Byzantine influences in Viking culture (clothing for instance) and vice versa. Does that interest extend to the Varangian Guard and the riches they took with them back home after their service was over?

Yeah, Miklagardr as it was called was a hugely influential place for Scandinavians, as they could trade exotic things from there and get frequent mercenary work. Service in the Varangian Guard gave many Norsemen ambitions to become future chieftains or kings, either at home or in the many trade-places habited by them. You can also see a connection in the clothing, since the Norse were so cosmopolitan that they wanted to incorporate exotic eastern elements so that they could impress the people at home.
