hahahaha the "~" is in the "n" = ñ hahaha but i forgive you because you're from Finland and a good guy who cosplay Zoro! xDD (and because i can't speak finish and you have a lot of symbols on your letters xDD).
My only question is... how you can be without t-shirt in Finland! It must be cold to go naked! xD.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LanviL In reply to Jeannette11 [2012-10-19 17:07:26 +0000 UTC]

Naaahhhh it was somewhere over +10*C so it wasn't bad My biggest mistake was cosplaying Ace during the winter when it was -15 degrees Celsius. I didn't go outside that much at that con
But yeah, I hardly ever wear a shirt at all. If friends come over, I only wear a shirt if there's someone coming, who I don't know that well
And it's not ALWAYS cold in Finland We get a couple of weeks every summer that the temperature goes over 25*C But yeah, in Spain that's probably when people START taking their shirts off right? ;D

Jeannette11 In reply to LanviL [2012-10-19 20:58:29 +0000 UTC]

Firts, sorry for my english (it sucks!).
Hahaha for me 10ºC is a bit cold... xDD, we have 40ºC in summer or more! xDD. But in winter we have round 0ºC, or -5ºC (that's because i don't live in the coast, in the Mediterraean the weather is hotter xD). But i think that with -15 degrees i would die xDD. I think that the people of the north are on a different level hahaha.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LanviL In reply to Jeannette11 [2012-10-19 22:44:21 +0000 UTC]

Oh wow... Over 40ºC :'D I would die from THAT! xD -5ºC is the perfect temperature in winter. Snow doesn't melt too easily and it still it's still a sort-of-comfortable-cold

Kids here go to school until it gets under -22ºC or something. Until then, they just put on more clothes XD In lapland the "school-limit" might be even lower, somewhere like -28ºC

My worst experience was when I was at a skiing-course somewhere in the middle of Finland and it was -20ºC and we had to use the skiing-tunnel, because there it was only -15ºC :'D But the worst experience! It was after a night of drinking and sauna, we had a 15km skiing-trip at 09:00 and I passed out at 02:00 and woke up with the worst hangover I've ever had, at 07:00 because I HAD to eat something AND keep it inside me XD It took me over an hour to eat a sandwich x))
Surprising thing was, that when we started moving and got into the rhythm of skiing, it felt nice. But it probably wasn't a good idea to go skiing while hungover because I felt so hot all the time, that after 30 minutes I was skiing without gloves and with my jacket open, even though it was somewhere around -15ºC :'DDD But when my classmate touched my hand to see if I was freezing and didn't realize it, my hand was warmer than hers

But yeah, I hope I explained myself in an understandable way. Because I've had a few drinks (Why do I sound like I'm always drunk?) and my writing isn't that coherent at the moment You have no idea how many times I corrected my sentences after re-reading them XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Jeannette11 In reply to LanviL [2012-10-19 23:24:30 +0000 UTC]

hahaha OMG, i've never skied in all my life xD. I went to the mountain few times when i was child and i used the sled xD. I really hate the cold, my hands are frozen easily haha and i'm thin and small, my body can't withstand these temperatures xD.
So..the stereotype that nordic people drink too much alcohol is correct, isn't it? hahaha Well, you need it for keep warm xD.
Ooooh! sauna sounds so cool! i want to go to one xDD.

Don't worry about your english, i think that you drunk write better than me sober xDD.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LanviL In reply to Jeannette11 [2012-10-20 13:29:14 +0000 UTC]

Usually my hands are cold too but that time they were HOT,
probably because of the hangover and skiing :'D

And yes, nordic people drink way too much. Well actually we
don't drink THAT much when compared to other european
countries, we just do the drinking in bigger quantities
at a time
By the way, drinking alcohol makes you feel warmer,
because it increases your skins blood circulation. But at
the same time, it gets colder and actually lowers your
body temperature. So it does the opposite

Saunas are nice. The gym I go to has two (one for men and
one for women) and everytime after a workout I use it
Helps keep your muscles warm and relaxes them after a hard workout.
And since we've been talking about temperatures, might
as well tell how warm/hot it is in a sauna x)
The typical warmth in sauna is around 80*C and we throw
hot water (as hot as it comes from the tap) on the "kiuas"
(the stove with heat-retaining rocks, visible to the sauna)
to get waves of heat throughout the sauna

I think you would really like sauna if you get cold easily

Jeannette11 In reply to LanviL [2012-10-20 14:47:56 +0000 UTC]

Hi!!

Are there other countries that drink more than nordic countries?? hahaha. Well, here in the south of Europe we have got drinks with less alcohol, but we drink it more often, i think.. xD like beer, wine, sangria (wine + lemon juice + fruit pieces). This is very typicall in Spain: [link]
But it's a refreshing drink xDD. Well, i usually don't drink alcohol xDD.
Here there are some gyms with sauna, but i think that they aren't like your saunas xDD.
Well, in winter go to the sauna will be cool xD, but in summer... i will die xD.
And Can you breath well with all the vapor? xDD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LanviL In reply to Jeannette11 [2012-10-20 17:11:22 +0000 UTC]

Russia is also famous for drinking much But Finland rates very high overall :'P

We also drink beer and such very much in Finland. Those are the main drinks but many people still have a bottle of "hard" alcohol to take shots from Wine is also very common to drink when eating at a restaurant or when friends come over for dinner.
Sangria is actually very popular here among us younger people It IS very refreshing
I personally love to make this drink = [link] (Kalimotxo, also known as cocavino) It's like a poor man's version of sangria when you put a slice of fruit in it XD

Sauna in the summer actually helps against the heat, because you've been in a hot room for a while, than anything cooler will feel cold
And yes, you can breath very well in the sauna x) It just feels very hot. Also, when throwing "löyly" (water on the stove), you usually just hold your breath until the biggest heat wave has passed Also, keeping your hands infront of your face helps cool the air when breathing in

Jeannette11 In reply to LanviL [2012-10-20 22:18:07 +0000 UTC]

hahaha you have a point, Russian people are good drinkers too xD. hahaha Kalimotxo is an spanish drink!!! cocavino means "coca" from "coca-cola" and "vino" = wine xDD.
I know it perfectly xDDD.

You're a master in "sauna techniques" xDD. But i prefer a sunbath haha. It's very funny see the german or english tourist with their skin all red like a crab xDD. Uhum, i think that there aren't many tourist from Finland.
I think that Finland must be amazing and beautiful, but i need sun xD. Is true that you have only a few hours of light? I couldn't live without sun
Have you ever seen northern lights? i bet that yes xDD. They must be awesome!
Hahaha sorry for so many questions xDD i'm just a curious woman xD. Thanks for the reply ^^

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LanviL In reply to Jeannette11 [2012-10-21 11:39:32 +0000 UTC]

We don't have a proper word for cocavino Redwine is "Punaviini" but when talking about it, people usually just say "punkku". So I just call it "punkku-cola" and everybody knows what I mean but many haven't heard of it and I ALWAYS get weird looks like "SERIOUSLY?! O.o". But when I give them a taste, they go like "Well damn... It's good "

Finnish people mostly go to the Canary Islands :'P Madrid is also quite popular. But the Canary Islands is one of the basic choices for most when going on a "sun-holiday". I went there for the 2003-2004 new year with my friends family :'D

But yes, it is partially true, that Finland only gets a few hours of light. In the middle of the winter ;D But during midsummer (around 23rd of June), the sun doesn't go completely away for a few days. It never gets dark It's the best part of the year

So if you'll ever come and visit Finland, come during the summer, preferably late June And don't worry too much about the language, very many Finnish people can speak English One of my friends actually speaks good Spanish because he's studied there and he also has a Spanish girlfriend who came with him to Finland

And yes, I've seen northern lights a couple of times but I live in the southern Finland so it's kind of rare to see them here But yes, they are very awesome

Jeannette11 In reply to LanviL [2012-10-21 13:39:15 +0000 UTC]

Oh! i live in Madrid xDD, well in a town near the city xD. I went to Canary Islands a few times, but i prefer the Mediterranean coast because for me, Canary Islands are cold xDD, well i mean, in winter in Madrid there are -5ºC or 0ºC aprox, and in summer we have 40ºC, and in Canary islands is always 20 or 25 degrees so...when i went was summer and i past from 40ºc to 20º haha for me was a bit "cold" xDD. (yes, you would think that i'm a crazy woman xDDD).
Yes i know something about the eternal day or eternal night in Finland, that you have some months without light and vice versa xDD. haha that's good that many people know english, well my english isn't perfect but i know something hahaha. Spanish people have a big problem with languages, i don't know why, but we are so clumsy learning languages xD. In the coast and the touristic zones the people speak english, but inside the country there aren't so much people who know it (except in Madrid). Ah, finish must be veeery difficult! I only know how to say: Kimi Räikkönen, Mikko Hirvonen, Mika Häkkinen and Heikki Kovalainen xDD, oh and The Rasmus! xDDD.
See the northern lights must be amazing *,*, and i think that the landscapes and the forest must be awesome too!
I have a friend that went last year to Finland (she had the Erasmus scholarship), and she says that Finland people are very very serious haha. But you don't seem very serious! haha.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LanviL In reply to Jeannette11 [2012-10-22 09:00:39 +0000 UTC]

I still remember walking around at night with my friend during
the new years eve and we were wearing shorts and t-shirts and
it was about 16ºC in the middle of the night :'D We were like
"This is sooooo sweeeeeet~"

But yeah I know what you mean You get used to a certain
temperature, just like you get used to the cold up here
So when it gets colder OR warmer you feel it differently.
Last winter we had about three weeks of -20ºC and it sucked
REALLY much... But when it got warmer to about -10ºC it felt
like "WOW! It's so nice and almost warm outside! "
So, everything is relative I guess

WOW! You're probably the first person NOT to know Finnish
curse words as their first words xDDD
But yeah, Finnish is a crazy hard language to learn. It is
very rare to hear someone speak good Finnish unless they were
born or at least grown up in Finland since childhood.
But you seem to like motorsports ;D Formula one and rally
at least x)

The landscape in the north of Finland is great because there are so
many beautiful forest-covered hills. In the south everything
is just so flat :'D But that's also nice if you can get to a
high place so you can see very far It must be very different
when compared to Spain I don't remember very much about the
landscape of Canary Islands... High rocky hills and such maybe...

Depending on where you spend your time in Finland and with whom
makes all the difference. Some people are very serious but some
(like people at my school) are very relaxed. One time when we
were, actually we were doing repairs to our student-sauna X'D,
we got a Danish couchsurfer there because his friend, who was
supposed to have him over, was on a cruise! So we invited him
to the sauna, had beers and drinks with him and talked about
all sorts of things and then one of the guys took him over to
his place so he could sleep somewhere

Many people here have international friends because there are a lot of French workers here building a nuclear factory near this city. So there are some "younger" people too working here and we've become friends with some through the website "couchsurfing.com" (Sorry for messing up with my paragraphs, I'm too lazy to "fix" them all xP )
But yes, even if some of us aren't that serious, we still seem very serious even if we arent'

hahaha yes, the first words that someone learn are curse words hahaha, but i haven't got any finish friend so i can't speak finish hahaha i only know the names of sportmen xDD. Yes, i like formula 1, specially Kimi! i'm a great supporter of him haha even if he's a bit "strange" xDD, Go Iceman!!!
Do you have an student-sauna? hahahaha that's so cool xD.
hahaha you are serious! oh no!! xD, well i think that it's the weather hahaha it make you more "rough".

Oh damnit... It was hailing today. Kind of like when it snows but they are hard and small little balls of ice/snow? About 2-3mm in diameter.
Winter is coming x)
I also really should change winter tires to my car BEFORE it starts to snow... But my tires are at my parents place and I'm not visiting them until next weeks weekend
I'll just hope that it doesn't snow until then x)

Jeannette11 In reply to LanviL [2012-10-28 12:53:48 +0000 UTC]

Sorry for the late reply!!
Hahaha here is a bit cold too, there are 15ºC and a freeze wind, but it's sunny yet. The weather-man said that this week will be very cold.
Last winter it snowed a few days (7 or 8 days, but not continuous). It's a bit rare that here snow because we are 600 meters above sea level, and it's a low altitude xDD. SO we haven't got winter tires haha only the common tires for all the year xD.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LanviL In reply to Jeannette11 [2012-10-28 15:52:02 +0000 UTC]

I live in a town next to the sea and we are like, at most 60m above sea level :'DDD Finland is very flat here in the southern parts. We have a couple of hills here which have skiing-places. But even those aren't over 300m high. Not even close XD
Just a couple of days ago it started snowing outside and when I went to the store with my car I almost hit a lightpole XD Luckily I stopped 2cm from the pole x) I still have my summertires on and my wintertires are at my parents place, 100km away
It's very close to 0ºC everyday now. Sometimes under, sometimes over by a couple of degrees.

It's really weird because some of the trees haven't dropped their leaves yet but there's snow everywhere :'D Today we had a sunny/cloudy day which was nice. Not the usual all-grey x)

I might upload a picture I took yesterday of the snow and trees, when I was coming home from the gym.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Jeannette11 In reply to LanviL [2012-10-28 22:04:57 +0000 UTC]

oh, is very flat in your town xDD. I live in the center of spain, near Madrid, and the center is a tableland or plateau...and the altitud is 600 m more or less xD. There are some mountains in the north and the south xD but the center is veeery flat xD. This is a photo that i took two days ago: [link]
You must be careful with the snow, is very dangerous to drive in ice
Wow, all-grey days should be veeery depressing xDD.
Yes, upload some picture! Finland must be beautiful!! ^^

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LanviL In reply to Jeannette11 [2012-10-29 05:49:22 +0000 UTC]

WOW! Compared to the picture you linked, Finland is very uneven Sometimes you can find a place that looks that flat but there are so many forests and trees everywhere that you can't see that far almost ever :'D And even if there wasn't any trees, there are so many little hills and such that you still can't see that far XD

Here's the picture I took a couple of days ago
[link]

Driving on snow and ice gets a lot easier when you have winter tyres The speed record for driving on ice was driven with Finnish tyres I think the speed was somewhere around 330km/h It was driven on the frozen surface of the gulf of bothnia Oulu, Finland with Nokian tyres. UUU! Found the link! [link]

But yeah, it's 07:47 A.M. And I need to go to class now It's +3ºC outside x)
I'll try to take some nicer photos if I remember :'P

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Jeannette11 In reply to LanviL [2012-10-31 14:35:58 +0000 UTC]

i love the foto, it's very beautiful there ^^. Haha for me is very difficult to drive with normal tyres and ice! xDD last winter i drove in a roundabout with ice and the car slid sideways and, fortunatly, the exit that i wanted to take was the exit in front of the car xDD, so hadn't got a crash xDD

woooh, today is a veeery cold day (9ºC) and i'm frozen! i want to turn on the heating!! xDD i can't imagine live in Finland xDD.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LanviL In reply to Jeannette11 [2012-11-04 10:42:25 +0000 UTC]

I'm so sorry for not replying for so long!
I've been so busy that I've completely forgot

But I finally changed my tires Now I can drive safely
through the winter

You're so lucky! Good that you didn't crash!

I think I'm finally getting used to the cold again.
I've been needing less and less clothing when I go outside
and it's between 0ºC to 10ºC all the time now The snow
by the way has all melted. I'm just dreading the day it comes
back...

I took a couple of photos while driving home. It was very
foggy and I thought it looked nice It's very rare to have
that kind of fog at that time of the day. Also the sunset
made beautiful colors. I'll upload them in a couple days.
Or after my hangover stops. I was drinking yesterday and I
don't think I've ever been this ashamed of myself...
I went to a friends after-party and we were drinking tequila
and whatever... At some point I think I was partying there
without my shirt and stuff...

no problem ^^
I end to watch the Formula 1 race, and win your compatriot Kimi!! yoohoo! xD
I'm glad that you have your winter tires haha.
OMG how you can stay with less clothes and with that cold weather! xDD
And why are you always drunk? hahahahah that's so funny xDD. I bet that a party with you should be very funny xDDD.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LanviL In reply to Jeannette11 [2012-11-05 08:13:58 +0000 UTC]

YEAH! GO KIMI!!! About time he won a race. Hasn't it been a while since his last victory?

I'm not always drunk. We just have parties often
But I didn't have a hangover! It was amazing. I talked to some of my friends and they couldn't get up from bed until 20:00 the next day :'D And I drank more than them xD Which is amazing because I usually just get tired early and go home to sleep XD
This thursday we're having another party but I'm not sure if I'm going to drink because I really have been drinking too much lately x)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Jeannette11 In reply to LanviL [2012-11-05 16:03:33 +0000 UTC]

yes, poor Kimi, but he deserves the victory so much! xD and he's very funny and cute *,* haha but my father says that he's very serious and surly, and i say: HOW YOU CAN SAY THAT!!?? hahaha. He isn't very popular here because the TV commentator who tell the race is always saying that Kimi and other racers is a bad guy and Alonso is the best and blah blah (i think the commentator is GAY and loves Alonso so much xD).

Hahaha why you have so many parties? we only have parties at friday or saturday xDD. You're stronger than your friends xDD.

Ouaaaah... Sorry for answering late again.. I've been really busy with schoolwork.
I haven't slept well for a couple of nights now and yesterday I only slept for about 3 hours... I worked on my essay until 03:30 and the return was at 08:00.

Today I'm just going to relax. Go to bed early. Tomorrow also. I'm going to the gym with my friend and later, there will be a small pool-tournament and after that, yet another party
On friday I have to start doing very much schoolwork again...

And I wouldn't say that I'm stronger than my friends :'D I've gotten a horrible hang-over from one bottle of wine... But sometimes I seem to handle the alcohol much better XD Or maybe wine isn't for me :< It was white wine actually... Maybe I'll stick to red wine with cola XD
