To be honest, I practically never go there anymore :/ I dropped by recently to show off my last Discworld pieces and saw the fanart thread hadn't moved in a year^^ I'm not very good at forums actually... I'm fine apart from that! How are you?

Sorta found a new home in the Good Omens fandom. (Obviously)
Pity to hear there's hardly any fanwork going on on the forum. What about other things? Fanfics, Cosplay? Anything?

I don't know, really :/ The fanfic writers I know write in French. I've seen nice cosplay at the events I've been in Wincanton, where some of the regulars have 'their' characters they come as - there's a wonderful Granny Weatherwax, Cohen the Barbarian, Dr Hix and a few others. I put on a long skirt and straw hat and introduced myself as Sacharissa Cripslock but I wouldn't call it cosplay as such^^

I have the feeling when it comes to fanworks the discworld fandom (at least on the forum) hasn't changed much :/. However, it's awesome over on tumblr %D. Need to coax a friend of mine to continue her Vetinari Roleplay blog

It's true that the official forum regulars are more about discussing the existing stuff than about creating their own, there isn't a real 'fandom' mentality there, and that's okay, as long as you can find it elsewhere I don't really know tumblr but at the moment I'm enjoying indulging my inner fangirl here on deviantArt...

And, as you might remember, the rather 'fanwork unfriendly' atmosphere is, albeit not what got me banned (which still is to be considered pretty much a douchy move if you get down to it), but what scared me out of the forum and the fandom (widely)

Long story short with the forum: I got kicked for standing to my opinion (about UA and Snuff not being on par with older books, while nearly everyone insisted they are the best discworld books). I wasn't all nice, so in part it is my fault. In general, though, you can maybe say I was banned for having an opinion different from others.

Oh, well, for what it's worth I didn't like them very much either... And I didn't even finish Dodger i'm afraid the fact of the matter is that Sir Terry just plain isn't as good as he used to be, but people are loath to admit it because they love him as a writer and as a person (I know it pains me)

I'm still under the impression, seeing the very crass changes to style and tone in UA, snuff, long earth and dodger, that Sir Terry, at best, provides the ideas, but someone else writes. Someone who has no real grasp on basic storytelling. It's either that or the Alzheimer is much, much much worse than officially stated.
But in any case, Good Omens is a bloody good book and I'm really happy I read it and got into the fandom.

I think it's still Sir Terry's writing (well, except for the Long Earth obviously) but his priorities have shifted from storytelling to philosophising, the shift to dictating software prevents him from having a good overview of what he writes - and to be honest, when I met him at the Wincanton Spring Fling he seemed pretty confused

Good Omens is an EXCELLENT book!

It's really a pity :/ Especially since, as said, that change of tone brought out the moral-anvil. (IMHO)

And oh yes it is x3. And the neat thing: even now we still keep discovering hidden jokes and allusions etc.

I must say, rather unlikely. While I still love Discworld, I went and moved on to other fields, namely Good Omens.
(The Discworld Fandom also managed to creep me out with the recent wave of 'astroturfing' on amazon and the like :/ ))
