You did a phenomenal job with your Fallout NV ranger costume. It looks like something right out of the game. I was wondering if you'd be interested in making more and if so how much they'd sell for.

how do you make your masks? do you sculp out a mask in clay, cast it in plaster, then make a replica out of plastic using the plaster mold? thats personally what i do. or is there another way to do this?

JayCosplay In reply to ArtSkullz [2013-05-15 07:38:27 +0000 UTC]
I build the mask using printouts from a 3d model replica of the mask I built in 3DS max, resin coat it and fibreglass it, then auto body filler, sand it down smooth and detail it. I then cover it in RTV silicone to make a mould around it, then cover that in fibreglass, resin and back that up with plaster bandages for rigidity. I then take all that apart and remove the mask, stick the mould back together and the pour in the polyurethane resin and Rotocast it until it's sets, I normally do this in 2 stages. Then take the mould apart and there you have a helmet.

Oh I see! I used RTV silicone once but there was a lot of issues and it ended up tearing. :/ but I didn't think to use fiberglass! I will try that out instead of plastic resin. Thank you for answering my question!
