Woah, that's amazing. Are you going to be creating something with that much detail in pencils? What's you're next project?

No there's no way in eternity I could ever be that good :') But I thought I'd share this artist's work with you since you use colored pencils a lot and you're really good~!
My next project is to sleep and sleep and sleep to make up for this semester :')

Don't say that. All it takes is practice and some confidence.Β
Seeing how well other people can draw/color with pencils is inspirational. I pick try to pick apart their techniques and see if I can mimic it. Though if I flat out copy them then I won't be creating anything original. The other day I found out that regular colored pencils can be turn into a quasi-watercolor pencil by dipping a brush into mineral spirits and applying it to the page. Makes it very even.Β
I've been sleeping a lot over break too, sometimes too much. Hope you have a merry Christmas ^^

Yep, mineral spirits and turpentine/turpenoid can dilute regular pencils I don't use because fumes give me headaches
Happy Christmas and a merry New Year to you too!
btw another artist:Β www.ggart.biz/thumbs.htm
Fine colored pencil artist, one of the pioneers of the medium and absolutely jaw-dropping. He released a book showing some techniques he uses to achieve certain textures, it's available in a lot of libraries

He's pretty good too. I'd like to get to that level but drawing stuff like that bores me. I need better watercolor paper too. Thanks for the reference.
The fumes don't bother me so I'll give that a try. I don't know whether or not to dedicate a separate brush to it.
I got some new watercolors from Askew & Taylor and watercolor pencils which are nice. Don't remember if you liked that medium but they had a lot left.Β

I'm more interested in using my (very) strapped funds to upgrade my non-watercolor pencils first before considering other things x_x Faber Castell is expensive... After that I would like to pick up some watercolor pencils, maybe Derwent?Β
Yeah still lifes bore me too, but I still love looking at his work if only because his technique is second to none *hypnotized*

Hmm, I saw some tutorials online about Derwent and those weren't very encouraging. Lyrchi (sp?) a person who critiques supplies on youtube, put those to the test and wasn't impressed. I think she said the Faber Castell's own watercolor pencils (I think it's Alber Duher something) were much better. I picked up 3 colors of Caran d'Ache's Aquarelle Museum and they are fantastic. Their cheaper line, Supra color II aren't bad either.
I recommend checking out Lyrchi's videos because she can do some amazing works with pencils of birds. Plus she's super bubbly (o^.^o)
