Dr. Rizal blessed us with that ship mostly at Noli. Honestly, I miss Ibarra and Elias' interactions in the book. Makes me want to re-read the whole thing all over again. In El Fili, since Elias pretty much died and all, at least he was mentioned a few times in the book--either referred as, "the injured man" or "the man/friend whom Ibarra owed his whole life". So beautiful, I'd say.

YES YES CAN YOU BELIEVE RIZAL LEGITIMATELY GAVE US THAT ONLY ONE SOLID PROOF THAT BASILIO LOVES ISAGANI LIKE WOW HE DIDN'T MAKE ELIAS OR IBARRA SAY THAT ONE OF THEM LIKES THE OTHER AND INSTEAD JUST GAVE THEM A LOT OF "PLATONIC" MOMENTS TOGETHER AND SUBTEXT BUT WHEN IT WAS BASILIO AND ISAGANI, RIZAL LEGIT JUST POINTED OUT THAT BASILIO LOVES ISAGANI LIKE--WOW???
Yes, yes I do. In fact, that's one of the main reasons why I feel very sad of Elias' death, and why I love Elibarra so much. Elias pretty much only said, "You saved my life, so I will repay you to the best of my abilities." AND ALSO, when Ibarra asked when he would be expecting Elias, Elias basically answered, "Whenever and where you may wish me to be. I am still your debtor, after all."
Yeah, true! Like, I think that was around the time after Ibarra's excommunication and all. Like, can you believe?? But anyway, Maria Clara was pretty much of a..."meh", character to me. But if you ask me, Elias was a much better love interest for Ibarra. Like, as I said, the only reason why he wanted to pretty much help/serve Ibarra was because the man saved him from that crocodile. But guess what? Elias went as far as risking his own life until the end for the sake of Ibarra's safety.
Believe me, the "Chase on the Lake" chapter was so vivid for me. Those were Elibarra's last moments with each other. And believe me, Elias' last words to Ibarra always get me every time. Because, Elias wanted Ibarra to be safe, thus is why Elias was willing to risk his life just so Ibarra can reform the country's government that time.
True, true. But, I kinda disliked Juli for not following her guts. I mean, she knew. She felt that Padre Camorra is planning something bad for her, but she's like, "For Basilio. For Basilio. For Basilio." But then again, that's what I like about her. Even if she is considered a dumb character, she pretty much does her best for the sake of her loved ones.
Which now brings us to Isagani's supposed leading lady who broke up with him because, "wala siyang mapapala kay Isagani dahil nakakulong siya". So, screw Paulita Gomez for picking Juanito, of all people, over Isagani. Seriously, I--(breathes) OK...it's getting too long. You go first.

It isn't really bad reading those two books. They both are so deep, well-written, and yeah, so many ships sailing. But, I am very much into Elibarra and Basagani. I have yet to understand why Penilaez (Placido/Juanito) is a thing, but I might look up for it some other time.
ARE YOU SERIOUS? REALLY? I did a legitimate check on my PDF of the English version of Noli Me Tangere, and I saw nothing. Are you sure? Because oh my, that moment must be remembered. I'd have to highlight that.
If you're referring to Maria Clara, she is the proper representation of a Filipina lady. Though, some find her quite unnecessary to the plot. I forgot the reason why, but it had something to do with the fact that a love interest is irrelevant for Ibarra, generally. However, it was her that ultimately triggered Ibarra--I mean, Simoun, to proceed with his revenge.
She is, and she was tolerable at least. Unlike fcking Donya Victorina. I hated her ever since she was first introduced, to be honest. Didn't really like her character at all. I feel sorry for Don Tiburcio, just thinking about it.

Apparently. As far as I'm concerned, it had something to do with Chapter 12of El Fili, the introduction of Placido, apparently. I think it was the way Juanito and Placido seem to act with each other. Placido's the quiet smart type, Juanito's the jock type. And yeah, seems like some people ship them. Though, I have yet to grasp that idea.
DAMN IT THEN BECAUSE WHEN I FIRST READ NOLI (in Filipino), I WASN'T AS PASSIONATE AS I AM NOW. My 3rd year self hated Filipino, because of its deep and old languages which are quite hard for me to understand. However, the main reason I was able to tolerate Noli was mainly because of my sudden interest towards Elias, and then eventually, of Elibarra. So yeah, I may have possibly missed it then. 
Maria Clara, you mean? I'd say that she deserved a much proper introduction, to be honest. And she could have at least have a much better character development, too. But then again, I really can't blame Rizal for this. Though, the only thing I'm grateful about is the fact Rizal removed the original 25th chapter of Noli ("Elias and Salome"), which would be the chapter where Elias' supposed love interest (Salome) was introduced. I mean, as you may have noticed, Salome wouldn't be able to play such a major role in the novel other than as Elias' possible love interest. Plus, Elias is pretty much whipped for Ibarra, so why would he need a love interest anyway.
She did, and it pisses me off. Honestly, I never like her at all, and the fact she approves of Juanito because she thought he was smart and because the Pelaez family are rich as fck, only just makes me mad.

Yep, those two kinds of people that are commonly paired up, you know. Like, they "love-hate" each other. But again, Penilaez doesn't really give as much spark as Elibarra and Basagani did, to be honest.
Lucky for you, then, because honestly speaking, I can only imagine what it was like reading that part. If I ever get to see that part again, I would have probably died inside.
Too late, Elias is also dead, unfortunately. Then again, since Simoun is also dead, they get to be reunited in their Heaven, so yeah.
She's really such an arrogant woman, I honestly couldn't tolerate her personality, to be honest. I don't like her at all, really. And true, there's Padre Damaso, Padre Salvi, Padre Camorra, Padre Sibyla, Padre Irene...I think the only priests who were like really good were Padre Florentino and Padre Fernandez. And the rest of them are bad priests.

Seriously, you're so lucky. I could imagine it like, Ibarra holding unto Elias' cheek and looking him solemnly in the eyes, while Elias looks really calm on the outside, but he is actually panicking inside because he didn't expect Ibarra to act like that all of a sudden. (sighs) Wishful thinking.
Definitely true on both ways! Honestly, there are so many characters that you can hate in El Nolibusterimo, and very few characters to like. Elibarra and Basagani will always be my most favorite couples there, I swear.

Aha! Found it! I believe this is the one , and I am still not accepting the fact I did not see this moment in the English adaption at all. The cruelty and injustice is real. 
I knew it, though. I knew it ibarra was pretty much mesmerized by Elias' beauty that he even remembered Maria Clara and all.
