So, regarding Pokémon.
The BBND movement wishes for the inclusion of all Pokémon, as you know.
Many pointed out that this is not possible in the time the developers have.
Many people from the movement acknowledged this, and have asked for
longer development times for Gamefreak. By supporting Sword and Shield,
the buyers also support the continuation of these outdated practices.

With the amount of Pokemon there are now, and with this amount forever increasing, this was going to happen sooner or later. I can't think of another game that has the number of playable characters that Pokemon has, and to me, it is understandable that the developers are going to reach the limit of how many Pokemon can be included in a game. The Switch is powerful, but it's no Xbox or PS4, at least not yet anyway.
I believe they may also be trying to extend the longevity of the game. Raid battles have already been announced, as well as a designated area within the S&S world that will have varying Pokemon spawn depending on the time of day, weather conditions, etc. What is to stop them having Pokemon rotation within these features and slowly releasing more and more Pokemon over time? I know it hasn't been confirmed that this is what is going to happen, but it's certainly a possibility.
Consumers are too quick to pass judgement on games developers. Any developer will want to have pride in their work, the same as anyone in any other profession. I never believe in judging an unfinished product, and when S&S comes out I will pass my own judgement based on what GameFreak believe to be their finished product. In the meantime, to me, anything else is just speculation on how the game MAY work.
This is the first fully-fledged Pokemon game on Switch, so it's a learning curve for everyone involved, from the top business owners down to the consumers and fans.

I actually know of one!
The Inazuma Eleven games have tons of
playable characters. From what I gathered,
there were about 1000 in the beginning
with more than double that in the most recent
game on the 3DS, all with unique stats,
attributes, elements and move pool.
The next game is set to release on Switch
in spring of next year and is being developed
by Level5, the guys behing Yokai Watch.
Check it out if you like, maybe you like it.
Tough besides this, the strength of a console
says only so much about a game. Pokémon
itself showed in the past the power of
optimization, and that Gamefreak is bad at it.
Sadly there is reason to believe that
this will not happen... The Pokémon Company
has Gamefreak on a tight schedule - the
reason for the yearly releases. It's possible
they are already working on the next games,
as they have done before and these games
having reached gold standard.
(I think that's what it's called.)
Doing the other Pokémon costs time they are not given.
As an aspiring game designer, I believe
that this is not the state Gamefreak wants
their product to be in, and that they were
cut off. After all, Junichi Masuda's statement
was not much of an official one, not even
getting shown to the especially furious japanese
audience, and the lack of information on
this topic suggests this was not a planful decision.
The decision was the Pokémon Company's, not theirs...
This is no one's first time.
Not the consumer's, who know full well what to expect from a Switch title, as even simple games like... Ring Fit Adventure (is that what it's called?) have a better presentation, nor the high-ups that believe to be able to plan their future long in advance.

I'm not really sure what else I can add to this. I'm a "wait and see" kind of person, I never preorder games but wait a few weeks to see the finished result/read reviews/watch player streams/etc.
Chances are I still will purchase S&S, and chances are I will personally enjoy it. That doesn't mean your points aren't justified, it's just our approach to the game is completely different.

People are entitled to their own opinion, same as you are entitled to yours. You're not going to change everyone's mind, but it's great that you have an opinion you are passionate about and stick by. Try not to worry so much about changing peoples' minds, because then you risk forcing your opinion on others which is not cool.
If it helps, the Pokemon community on Reddit appears to be predominantly anti-S&S, so you may find people on your wavelength over there?

The only reason I think Dexit doesn't bother me that much is that with each new game I create a team exclusively from that new gen. So with S&S I'll only have Gen 8 Pokemon anyway, so I don't really mind that certain Pokemon from previous gens won't be in it.

their old Pokémon, specifically the memories
attached to them, with them.

Let me ask you this, if the roles were reversed and I was trying to convince you of my opinion, do you think it would work?
It seems to me that you're just expecting people to change their opinion to line up with yours and if they won't then they are wrong (rather than them just having a different opinion and that being ok). If that's true then I'm done with this "discussion" as you won't accept no for an answer, therefore completely dismissing other peoples' rights to their own opinion and freedom of opinion.
