# Interests
Favorite movies: Where to even begin?Favorite TV shows: I love too many shows! DA will crash!
Favorite bands / musical artists: I love as many bands as I love tv shows and movies combined. Which is a lot..
Favorite books: Pride and Prejudice. Definitely.
Favorite writers: JK Rowling, Yana Toboso, myself because self-love is important (no that was actually an excuse for my ego)
# About me
I started out on DA as Shi-no-tamashii where I uploaded all of my manga 'redrawings' while I worked on my realism. It's nowhere near good, but it's progressing which is why I made this account. To share my progress and have a place where I can laugh at myself for thinking anything I uploaded was any good. You're welcome to share a laugh.
What I use for my drawings:
Pencils
HB pencil for sketching.
3B pencil for darker areas.
8B pencil for even darker places.
10B pencil for...well...black parts.
Erasers.
An electric eraser.
A normal cheap eraser.
Blending stumps.
#6 to get the blacks smoother.
#3 for shading the face.
#2 for more detailed shading (ex. when the eyes are really small).
For my dot art drawings, I use:
An HB pencil for sketching.
A thin black ink pen.
Oh, and paper..
If anyone is curious about how I draw certain things (my bases, shading, hair,...), don't be afraid to ask.
I believe in using the right materials, not the most expensive. So if anyone wishes to know where I order my drawing stuff, do say so and I could provide you with a link. I don't use the most professional materials, but it's working well enough for me.
(Yes, the foxes are mine)

Hey, I'm so sorry for my absence! I'm currently drawing actually.
I'm looking for a job and everyone has been pushing me about it lately so I haven't really had the interest to do something creative
But I'm back! I usually don't disappear forever
How are you?

Hey! All good here, I am still practicing a lot. Currently I work on an "examination" task, a very difficult Ron Perlman portrait.

Oh wow Perlman has a unique face. That's not easy
I can't wait to see the result!
I was working on a drawing of Ian Somerhalder, but it turns out I just can't get the eyes right

Thank you so very much for the fav! I see, you do a lot of realistic portraits, any advice you can give me?

Thank you! And sure, I read you were struggling with the hair in your Ellen Ripley portrait, I struggle with hair too. I think every artist dreads drawing hair.
For me, it works best starting from the roots and moving the pencil outwards, following the flow of the hair. It's an art in itself to see where you should press down harder and where not to. It depends on the lightening of your reference image.
Soft strokes should do the trick in creating a soft texture. But it's important to keep moving in the same direction as the hair.
What drawing realism generally comes down to is looking at your reference and trying to recreate it to the best of your abilities. Recognizing the difference between light shading and dark shading and being able to blend them together so they flow smoothly (I advice using blending stumps because they're extremely efficient). If you want to make something realistic, make sure no harsh lines show.
The face doesn't have lines, it has shadows
If you have specific questions.. shoot! I'd love to help as much as I can
And thank you for the llama and watch!!

You're welcome! I like it, you can see the effort you put into it. Most people make it look easy especially with portraits

Yes. I'm so jealous of these people who can make absolutely incredible portraits and make it look effortless. I doubt I'll ever hit that amazing level of talent but I try :-D

You know, it all comes down to using the right materials and knowing how to handle them.
Everyone starts somewhere and for me it was but a month ago when I was saying the same thing as you. Even without knowing, there's a bit of progress in each drawing.
It's not talent, just practise.
What you're doing right is using darker tones. Many portrait artists are scared of pressing down on their pencils or going for a B10.
It's just a matter of knowing how to blend shading properly ^^
Also, you'll always see flaws in your own work. It's sad.. but true.

Materials definatly make a HUGE difference...i was using just some crappy at pencils from a yard sale and I send to hit a wall...i was practicing a ton but I wasn't showing any improvement but then I bought a nicer set and I was shocked by the instantaneous improvement.
For a long while I was one of this artists status to go dark...i was afraid of not being able to fix a screw up but you get such better detail and contrast once you conquer that.
I've improved an incredible amount since I joined an art community called amino...i get really great feedback there that has been very helpful
