I really like him! Before Hanji/Hange appeared, he was my fav xD he's a close second now though. His development and character fill-up is getting bigger and bigger which leaves even more room for development.

Something I don`t get is why he is in 10th place in the popularity poll....he has not great fighting skills like Mikasa, Levi and Eren, but at least he is brave too and is pretty smart and he always makes excellent strategies and deductions. Plus he is one of the main protagonists, alongside Mikasa and Eren.

uhhh dislike... hard to say but I didn't like Hannes at first, as well as some minor roles, but Hitch annoys me big time. didn't like Jean much at the beginning either, but he grew on me.

I guess he's 10th place because of his development, as well as that he's not overshadowed like other trios (Naruto-Sasuke-Sakura for ex.)

like, he gets his screen time and development. not like Sakura in Naruto who's just good at one time or another and then lets the others continue. 
Armin gets his fair share - whether it's good or bad. his screen time is not there "just because he needs screen time" but because without him, some things would never have happened or been realized. 
in some way, all the main characters in SnK gets their fair screen time.

Ahh *facepalm* yes that`s true XD. Armin always tried to being useful for Mikasa and Eren since both alwyas defended him from bullies, all that he did until now was because of Eren and Mikasa, when he always make good strategies, deductions, he was the one who convinced everyone that Eren has a big potential as a weapon of humankind. And I'm still wondering why he is in 10th place XD

And yes, the characters of Shingeki no Kyojin have their respective uniqueness and each improves in someway to the story.  All of them appears when needed.

Yes Sakura was not a great character, I read once in an article in Naruto wikia that Sakura is just the typical normal girl. I always saw her as just sensual and nice girl.

In my case....It was pastor Nick who was really sissy and treated Eren as a menace in the trial, and all this time he and his bunch of retarded followers were hiding Titans inside the Walls' structures, Nile Dock from the military police who called Mikasa and Eren inhumans (damn sissy).

Jean at the beginning as well, in that time I saw him as someone gullible and that kind of teenagers who make fun of someone and try to conquer a cutie girl (in this case Mikasa) and they feel resentment towards the guy (Eren in this case) who has said cutie girl by his side. But then I began to like him a bit.

Ymir because he is just a sardonic girl who improved very little in the story and just a padding character, but more than that is because she is very sardonic, I dislike her after she made fun of Armin's suffering after Eren was eaten in front of him after saving him, and making fun of Connie after he realized that the Titan over his house is his mother. BLEGH

At first Levi, I never liked how he treated Eren when they first met and when he brutally beat Eren in the trial after Eren outbursted when those idiots of the trial were attacking Mikasa, and when he said he was going to kill him. But after that I began to like him only a bit after Levi treated Eren as one of his subordinates and as a human, and after showing understanding towards Mikasa's hostility towards him after the evnt in the trial and her feelings for Eren and helped her to rescue him from Female Titan. But that episode and that scene of the trial still chases me.

aah yeaaah, I see your reasoning. tbh, I kinda like all the characters so far in one way or another, but yeah. some characters really gets on my nerves. however, I've developed a habit of trying to put myself in their shoes so in one way I can see why they do stuff like they do XD

Talking about why certain characters behave like that, I can understand why Ymir behaves like that: I can understand why Ymir behaves like that because her life was pretty tough and she lived as a Titan for many years, but her sardonic personality makes me pissed off.

Yes that happens to me that too XD, I always put myself in others' shoes.

The characters in which I always put myself in their shoes all the time are in specific the good and nice ones (Mikasa, Eren, Armin, Connie, etc... with Levi I'm a bit neutral XD). I usually put myself in the shoes of people who aren't capable of doing something nefarious, or make someone suffer because they want and for being cowardly those nefarious ones.

I put myself in Eren's shoes  because he never chose to became a Titan and he saved lives many times and despite that he was threatened and they make a trial for him, Mikasa because she doesn't want to see her beloved ones (Eren especially, the most one XD) to get harmed and she only wants to protect Eren from everyone, whatever are their reasons, A better example was when the trial ocurred, when Mikasa was all anguish because of what might happen in Eren's trial and when she gets angrily shocked, indignated and anguish because Eren was being brutally kicked by Levi, and that thing that he was going to kill him (thanks god that never happened), and how both Eren and Mikasa felt when Nile Doc and those other idiots of the trial called them inhumans despite they risked their lives for saving the humankind. And how they felt when that damn Kitts ordered to fire cannon to them, that was very coward from his part.

The only ones of whom I will never show empathy (when you put yourself in someone's shoes) are Nile Dock, that Kitts Verman, Pastor Nick, they are only jerks in search of a safe haven. (I remember that that Nile Dock recognized that Eren saved Trost and bring glory to humanity for the first time but despite that he make that trial for Eren, put him in a cell and dares to call Eren and Mikasa inhumans)

Well. The reason of the question  is because of the fact that Dr Jaeger left Eren and Mikasa when they were just children and when the Titans entered through Wall Maria. And the fact that Eren suffered because of his Titan Power and it's his father's fault, and he was never seen since that moment. And that thing that Dr Jaeger contains secret info about Titans might hint that he has some relation with the Titans.
