# About me

I launched a small desktop publishing company in 2007, Relentless Publishing, LLC, and have a boxed edition RPG publication credit. Currently I am working on a variety of titles from board games to combat strategy games. As and artist I dabble in mixed-media, able to do some illustrations and digital artwork for my publications. As a small business I occasionally seek contractors with a style (and price point) that matches my needs or interests.

I have been employed as a graphic artist in a variety of fields including law (personal injury, premises liability, vehicle torts, medical malpractice, sexual abuse), government contracting (training course ware, US Navy), marketing (corporate image, branding, advertising), package design, book covers, conceptual design, product development, civic and charity work, photograph reconstruction, and a handful of other tasks and jobs. On the side I enjoy kitbashing and scratch model building; a different artistic use of my hands. I have turned this hobby into a side business.

COMMISSIONS:
I have just begun work on my eleventh commission project and have secured the spot for #12. I am still reviewing any interested commission requests to add to my cue for 2019, however.

hello. I love your zoid creations and look forward to what you might make next. I have tried to reach your website but have found that I can not get on. Is there a problem with the website or is it down for good? I hope it is the former and not the latter as I would like to see it.

Hello my friend. It has been awhile. First off, your last design was amazing as ever. Are you still working on projects or are you done for now?

GHancock In reply to Zero-Angel-of-Death [2019-02-19 20:01:58 +0000 UTC]

Thanks so much!

Funny you should mention it... I am finishing up the last bits of paint of Commission Custom #11, the last of the "Royal Series" (Gil Kaiserin, Lucht Vuur, Celestis Tenebris, Gungyalado Mk2, Supreme King Gojulas, Aerogeist, and Dreadmander). The final is going to be just a bit smaller than SKG... 28" long and a salute to the old WW1/WW2 era battleships!Β  I am quite proud of this one!

After that I have another project in the cue, a Puertosaurus battlestation. (At least it's a quadruped... theropods are really a challenge!)

How have you been?

Zero-Angel-of-Death In reply to GHancock [2019-02-20 15:33:42 +0000 UTC]

That is great!Β

I remember something aboutΒ PuertosaurusΒ in that it has a strange body shape. I think its main body was wider on the sides than others.

Actually, I had a few ideas for custom Zoids after getting bored one weekend. For awhile there was a Liger Zero Falcon I was going to customize with an acquaintance. But the deal fell apart when the model turned out to be sold out and the seller tried to pawn off a cheap knockoff.

Ouch. Yeah, I've only been sort of stung once since I started working with clients. Fortunately it didn't cost me work because I had another build in the cue, but one does need to tip-toe sometimes. Puertosaurus is currently being hailed as, quite possibly, the heaviest dinosaur ever found, with vertebrae that appears almost twice as wide as the average sauropod.

You can make a true heavy weight with something like that. If you want a name it is technically a part of the Titanosaur family.

Anyways, it may be a good thing the sale did not go through. I wanted to rework the designs a bit to a theme and I am not the most confident in my customization skills. Maybe a cross between pre Zi past technologies meets modern/futuristic tech. I mean I had ideas for for the Liger, Konig Wolf, Garyuki/Geno Ritter, and Deadly/Iron Kong.Β

Cross-era can make for some interesting customs. I'm strongly considering building my Puerto between a Grachios and some future tech.

Interesting... note the brick pattern the artist added to give it some texture? I think these are closer to what people were expecting for Zoids Wild.. or more of the old kits in different colors.

Zero-Angel-of-Death In reply to GHancock [2019-03-01 05:09:47 +0000 UTC]

Honestly, it is from the official artbook so I do not know if it is from the past or the future. But it supposedly exists as canon.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

GHancock In reply to Zero-Angel-of-Death [2019-03-01 22:45:42 +0000 UTC]

The artbook is supposed to be an official retelling of the Zoids history, mostly because it became so convoluted. I just think it was odd that Tomy took such a direction with models that already exist rather than building up the history that led up to their released designs. Still, at least they did attempt to branch out a bit.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Zero-Angel-of-Death In reply to GHancock [2019-03-02 01:37:29 +0000 UTC]

True. The fact of the matter though is that many great designs were never made into models. That or they were made once for a show and forgotten. Some of the redesigns that people do were great as well. Much like the redesigned Gojulas Mk2 someone made actually warranted becoming part of the official model line. Kinda wish yours would become official models.

GHancock In reply to Zero-Angel-of-Death [2019-03-03 20:37:15 +0000 UTC]

Some of them, yeah. I've seen so many talented builders who didn't want to wait for a company like Kotobukiya make an HMM kit that they did it themselves. One famous example is the guy who sculpted the first garage Sturm Tyrann kit that was sold at Wonderfest only months before Koto came out with the official one. There are some really talented artists out there.

I have printed a few items on Shapeways.com.Β  You can create an account there, upload your files, adjust their size, fix them to make them "water tight", and you can set your own retail prices to make a profit.

Hello my friend, I appointed apologize for not responding to your recent builds. They are very magnificent as always. Funny enough I was bidding on a liger zero falcon and see if you would customize it, unfortunately, my laptop literally fell apart a while ago and I had to save my money for repairs. Nevertheless, these builds are becoming more creative with each one made.

Your welcome. There was an interesting conversation between two other people and myself about the best Zoids to exist and I brought up your customs with their lore and they mentioned that there was a Berserk Fury Buster and a Liger Zero Falcon (Which the latter apparently could bench press whale kings despite it's size). That made me want to see if you could revamp one or both. Then the computer issue happened and now I am broke for another few months. Anyways keep up the good work my friend.

GHancock In reply to Zero-Angel-of-Death [2017-07-27 19:12:00 +0000 UTC]

Thank you for the compliments! I wouldn't mind trying my hand at revamping either of those Zoids, actually. My lore has always been apart from the official Battle Story, of course; I try to keep my designs more grounded in realistic(-ish) tech alongside some of the super sci-fi stuff. Given the chance at a remodel, though, I think it would be a fun and interesting challenge.

Hm...
Realistic- Gatling Guns, Missiles, Railguns (Maybe)

Sci-fi - Beam/Energy weapons to Massive Unstable Black hole Tech

I think the balance may be a bit unfair.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

GHancock In reply to Zero-Angel-of-Death [2017-07-28 21:49:17 +0000 UTC]

True, true, but in the same manner that an AIM-9 Sidewinder isn't in the same category as a nuclear missile. One is a weapon, the other a "super weapon", and both are supported by the present day military. The difference is that nukes aren't pulled out for shooting down a handful of jets. I see Zoid tech the same way; an HCPC can erase a force of Zoids or the city they are protecting, but Β realistically you are not that likely to field one in standard ops. I like the idea of more common platforms than super weapons, generally speaking, partially because the tech isn't so removed from what we know and it is more fascinating to imagine its deployment.

I've been following your work for years, yet never realized you had a DA... Anyways, glad to see your impressive builds and their photo-manipulations on here!

Also, about how much do you typically charge for a custom? Do you charge by the hour combined with overall size or is it based on a rough estimate? I might be interested in getting my Ballistipine design made, but it is designed to be around molga sized...

GHancock In reply to slickedbackArtisan [2017-06-06 06:56:01 +0000 UTC]

Hello, slickedbackArtisan! Thanks for the kind words! Yes, I do post some of my stuff here (should probably re-shoot older stuff and update them, too) but I'm usually in the shop too much to keep the public face upkept!

I price customs based on a number of things, but the formula goes something like this:

Price of components + estimated hours (based on size, complexity, features, and finish of the build) = estimated cost.

So if I am asked to essentially add some details and paint to a barely modified Deathsauer it would cost the same or less than coming up with a Liger-sized animal of all new design that requires a ton of resources and scratch building with an LED package installed.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

slickedbackArtisan In reply to GHancock [2017-06-07 04:12:30 +0000 UTC]

Ah, good to hear ^^ so about how much do you think my design would go for roughly? I'd say it would be closest to the Sea Saber design in terms of size.

I was thinking that a Dibison turret would be a good starting point and the cockpit is designed to resemble the ones from early BLOX models, leoblaze is probably the closest in terms of design.

The only thing I'm stuck on is color scheme... the old school republic MK-II color scheme would probably look nice, but I'm not too sure since it wouldn't really go with anything in my collection.

Anyways, hope to hear back from you on this
