Aaaah I wanted to answer your question correctly and I let more than 3 weeks pass! I am so sorry for the late reply!

Crowdfunding is more and more common in Europe and the US, I think especially to finance artistic or technological project. Kickstarter and Indiegogo are the most famous platforms, but there are plenty of others, at a national level. Are they any Japanese crowdfunding platforms?

I have just launched a campaign to have my webcomic Tales of the Lost Souls printed into a nice book! It is also a cool way to produce goodies such a bags, pins, prints with pictures from the story.
I chose the French/European platform Ulule, since I believe most of my active readers are French!
