Sure, my email is art@mairperkins.co.uk Just send me the details of the dates, place, time, number of guests and anything else relevant then I'll work out the costs. I would really like to draw at your wedding but I'll just have to figure the practicalities out first.

rwyt ti'n siarad cymraeg!! dw i'n siarad cymraeg ail-iaith. roedd rhaid i fi rhoi'r gorau i'r iaith ar รดl blwyddyn 11 achos mae ffrangeg yn fwy defnyddiol ac y flwyddyn diwethaf wnes i 5 bynciau yn lle 4. Bydda i'n gwneud 3 wersi o gymraeg y bythefnos nawr..
My welsh is a bit rusty.... well... more than a bit. i've been focusing on my french because i have a reputation to live up to now so i've had a year out without using much welsh at all... but i never wanted to give it up and now welsh is the only thing holding my personal statement together so i thought it would be wise to do some welsh classes this year im a bit worried the class will look down on me though... i have to go into y13 welsh because my frees dont match up with the year 12s much :-/

lol wow i wasnt expecting that to be honest. see i understood pretty much most of what you said there, cause you see i only have a gcse in welsh so im not really that great. the thing that made me wanna ask was you tag line under you post yeah i lived in Colwyn Bay my whole life up until i moved away to uni.

haha i only have GCSE welsh too. just my GCSE welsh was a different level to most people's and i did it more recently than you.... me & languages i take it into my own initiative to progress, if you see what i mean (im not convinced that made sense). tasks have the potential to be so boring and so i make them more interesting for myself. "what's your favourite sport" "my favourite sport is extreme ironing *gives a short history of extreme ironing in french*" "what would be your ideal school?" "my ideal school would be called hogwarts *describes hogwarts in french*" and i did similar for welsh... like i know that its only me helping myself to learn a language so i'll put my all into it.... was quite productive.
i thought it might be i actually saw that on a bus... i think it was an advert for learning welsh or something, and it had "ti'n seren" then "teen seh-ren" then "you're a star" and i thought... awwww it was such a lovely message it made my day... so i thought i'd put it in my sig. really i should put the translation as well...
Colwyn Bay... surely its really welsh there? do you have a welsh accent? i'd give ANYTHING for a welsh accent i reckon we must have sounded like right idiots in our welsh orals, with our toff-ish accents. we went to a revision weekend with people from the Valleys and we were all like "woooah... they sound really look.... they have an accent" and they were all like "woooah... they're really good.... they arent reading off a sheet of paper" im not planning on staying in wales either...

wow i'm very impressed you seem to be really amazing at languages, and i must say i really do admire your drive to get better at them. (oh and dont worry you did make sense )
But no i really dont have an accent at all, im actually in the middle of an on going arguement with a collegue at work over whether im actually welsh or not cause i dont have an accent. In all fairness there isnt an awful lot of job prespects back in wales, i mean i will never ever be able to get a job at a decent games company living in wales cause theres only like 2 or 3 games companies in its entirity.

academically im good... i just wish i was more fluent.
aww.... i so wish i did. imagine the endless hours of entertainment just by speaking... mind you, it would make it hard to make a serious point.... i'd much rather be laughed at for having a funny accent than be laughed at for not having one though..
this is true. i have no real idea of what i want to do after uni (or even at uni for it to matter... personal statement nightmare). i just dont want to end up in Bangor. i'd apply to aber if i was going to do art... but im not. swansea & cardiff are either a) too close b) dont offer anything i want to do. plenty of nice cities/uni's in the rest of the uk. we'll worry about everything else after.. i can see the advantage to moving away for you though if you know what you want...

lol yeah i know what you mean, its a pain in the arse when no one believes your welsh cause you dont have an accent. maybe i should start speaking to him in welsh on a regular basis
the problem with living in england now though is that i keep using little welsh phrases every now and again, and every one just gives you a funny look

ali-musette In reply to Craig-Fisk [2009-09-22 21:27:25 +0000 UTC]
tbh... i dont mind it so much. i mean... im only welsh by birthplace... and even that i was nearly born in england.... and having said that this part of wales used to be part of england anyway :-/ i think in some cases it would be a blessing to not sound welsh. proud of being "welsh" but... not the be all end all
heh... im trying to get people i talk to regularly online using "nos da" instead of "goodnight" its working so far... even if they just say it to me. you should try it... spread the word... i find it amazing the english dont have a word for cwtsh.... there are some words which are just better in welsh...

Craig-Fisk In reply to ali-musette [2009-09-23 08:17:02 +0000 UTC]
yeah i know what you mean but i love being proud about being welsh, it gives me endless hours of entertainment
hang on, i dont even know what the word cwtsh means :S to google!!!!

ali-musette In reply to Craig-Fisk [2009-09-23 17:09:58 +0000 UTC]
that i know exactly what you mean its strangely fun being proud about being victimised. i wish i was more welsh.
its like a cuddle its used by everrryone here. well, all the girls anyway.... facebook there's always someone talking about wanting a cwtsh (its meant to be s, most people use c). im not even joking... the last one was 2 hours ago. anyways... so today its basically used as "i want a cuddle" (mostly sympathetic) or "im going to cwtsh up on the sofa" (like snuggling up) but i think it used to be more like the kind of cuddle a mother gives her baby.... its an awesome word.
did you know microwave in welsh is "popty ping" i found that amusing... its the oven which... pings

its goooood!! my friend's english teacher criticised us for having no cool words which no one else understands. pah.
its brilliant it sounds like a toy microwave when you say it...
why are personal statements the most mind numbingly boring, time consuming, difficult things to write in the universe & everything

lol you see i weirdly didnt have a problem with mine, all my mates did though. for some reason i just had like one of those major inpirational momnets, like i'd just had an apiffany of something and i suddenly new what to write, and within 15 mins i had a awesome first draft. it was well weird, it happens occasionally though like when im drawing sometimes or i need to write something.

im trying to convince the appropriate people i have a burning passion for languages and history or linguistics :-/ whilst not mentioning specifically which languages, or history, or linguistics. its stupid... its not like interest is a limited quantity. just because i think i will find linguistics interesting doesnt mean i will suddenly find history half as interesting as i found it before i knew what linguistics was. i can like and want to do all those things in equal measure and be committed to all of those things. i can be happy studying all of those things. anyways... i've been trying to find subtle ways of getting it interpreted in the right way by 5 very different courses :-/ whilst keeping it specific enough to appeal to the more competitive places...
that's impressive.... and v. lucky i struggled for ages coming up with crap to write about and then realised the only thing i really knew how to talk about was Welsh. so now i just about have a first draft which is way too long without a decent ending

yeah i can imagine that would be a pain in the arse if your applying to a few different courses, i was lucky cause all the courses i applied for were practically the same so it wasnt so hard.

just a bit. plus everywhere has a different idea of what they want... my sister is telling me to put more in about my hobbies and what an amazing person i am (her words, not mine), and then the history person at manchester (not applying there... but he seemed to have good suggestions) said that if you're applying for history that you show you can progress your thoughts (ie: say why), but then im sure the cambridge person said to us that they dont care about our hobbies & that unless it links directly to the topic... and tbh im finding it difficult to link hobbies to linguistics. i feel so boring anyway...

awh dont feel so bad, i would include hobbies and stuff but try and link them as much as possible to what your studying, otherwise make them only brief comments really. but i'm sure your not that boring! you dont seem it to me

i mentioned about photography and about music... i think she wants me to integrate them more into the rest of the ps... but if you can find a way to link them to history, languages and linguistics at the same time without particularly saying either linguistics, languages or history be my guest.
mneh, doesnt take long to realise im dull with no life. everyone sees it at some point...
