° Alistair is a rather laid-back type of character. He won’t bother arguing with most stupid people, simply rolling his eyes and letting go of a comment of contempt. However, his short temper seems to contradict this, and once he’s set off it’ll take a good fight or a pack of cigarettes to calm the man down. Alistair smokes like a chimney and never refuses a cigarette - perfect way to chat with him outside a pub or restaurant. This Scotsman also loves a pint or two...or ten and inviting him out is in your best interests if you want to make friends. He’ll often be found complaining about the weather, or generally anything that comes to mind. Alistair also enjoys just sitting outside admiring the countryside, and how quiet his country can be. The city has its own charms, but time and time again he returns to the country to take in its beauty. Family means the world to him. As much as he seems to tease and berate said family, if you dare to go against him on the subject, you’ll find yourself with a black eye pretty quickly. Never mess with a Scottish man's family. All in all, the man is rough around the edges and curses like a sailor, but he has a kind heart despite it all. A typical Scotsman; hard on the outside, and a softie at heart.

"i. haruka jogged up to the scot, her big eyes bright and friendly, as they always are in regard to the redhead. she shoved her hands into her pockets as she approached. her soft golden hair was mildly tousseld; it wasn't a windy day, but haruka had likely been out and about all day. it was summer, after all. school was out for two months until second semester started up.

For reasons unknown, Haruka was spending summer in Scotland. Best of luck to the poor girl, in all honesty. For a Japanese person, the Scottish accent would be very difficult to adjust to, even if they already had a decent grasp on the English language.
But as Alistair was called out to, he stopped and turned, finding the teen jogging up to him. "Hey, what's up?" he asked, returning the smile. "How's Edinburgh treating you so far? Gone up to the castle yet?"

ii. while haruka spoke and understood english incredibly well, she wasn't well versed in the art of accents.
iii. she definitely sounded japanese when she spoke english.
iv. otherwise though, she was enjoying scotland and its natural beauty and allure.
