Hey! I saw the link to your gallery from gaia. Just thought I'd drop by and say your work makes me really happy for some reason. xDD I was smiling as I went down the list you'd posted on GAM. While the stuff isn't the most "technically" proficient, you more than make up for it with the spirit/storytelling/illustrative quality. ^_^
I particularly like how you render drow. I haven't been able to do it successfully even though one of my characters is supposed to be one. Woops!
Anyhow, keep up the good work! I hope you'll keep up with drawing and stuff. ^^

As to rendering drow... Most of the time its a complete accident. xD I just play with tone, color, filters and opacity.

Out of curiosity, do you sketch before moving in for the finer details? Also, what about drawing the basic skeletons out before you begin?
Starting to do so has helped me out quite a bit, though I've still got a long way to go.

I abuse sketchbooks quite regularly. It's a miracle I don't have paper police at my door once a month. xD As to skeletons, I do more often than not. I'm not brilliant at human anatomy, but of things I can draw, that's what I'm best at. :/ I want to take some anatomy classes, but I don't have the money, and no one in hell local to where I live will be willing to just pose for me. I try to learn from photographs, other artists tutorials and the odd book I can get from libraries.

That makes sense. xD Well, sounds like you're doing all of the right things.
Do you draw from life much? Like find random things in your room, look out at nature, etc? I know I need to do more of that personally. ^^ But from what I've seen that helps a lot. That and studying the crap out of basic forms and shapes. (ie drawing lots of boxes and pyramids and stuff)
But yeah, I know how it goes about the lack of classes. My problem is more that I just don't have the time. x_x I'd love to take a figure drawing class sometime.

To be perfectly honest? I suck at drawing inanimate objects. >,< That's one big thing that I need to work on, but the thought just makes me cringe.

Haha. Ok, you're a lot like me then. <_< I find them extremely boring to draw. How about pets? Or local animals? Have you tried drawing them before? A trip to the zoo would be ideal, but there's not always one nearby. xD

I don't think there's a zoo in my area at all actually. xD I think the closest one is a 3 hour drive into the next state. But that's an idea I honestly didn't think about. I'll have to give it a shot some time this summer.

There are some things I can always count on during a zombie apocalypse: the car won't start, batteries will die at the most critical moment possible, and someone's going to wander off to investigate that "strange noise" by themselves. But there's something else I can count on: you, Hogosha. Yes, your fave of my art has proven that when the undead hordes come knocking down my walls, you'll be right there alongside me, blasting away or revving your chainsaw to defend the stronghold. Thank you my friend. With that in mind, I can sleep easier tonight, knowing that we have a chance for survival.
