Discworld MUD description: You see an uninterestingly average woman... and yet your eyes slide back. She is neither old nor young, tall nor short, dark nor fair, neither a beauty nor a beast. Her hair is a brassy colour somewhere between blond and brunette and her eyes shift between green and grey. She smiles as her gaze passes your way, and you get the feeling she has noticed everything, doesn't mind and won't let on.

Oh, nice! Β Yeah, the Professor is a great guy. Β I've chatted with him several times, and he's invariably pleasant and insightful.
Regrettably, I've posted all my pics of the Prof from this year (there are a few more already in my gallery), but I'll totally be hitting the Grand Canadian Steampunk Expo again next year, and hope to see him again. Β In the meantime, I hope you enjoy my remaining Abney Park pics, and the other images that are to come.

Yes, I don't mind! I did area studies! I completed my masters in science, specialty, social sciences (anthropology and sociology)-- degree title, modern Japanese studies. my dissertation was on the displays of 3-11 art in Japan of a particular museum in Saitama. most of it was anti-nuclear-- very powerful stuff. No one usually asks me!!
How about you? What's your specialty?

Very interesting! I studied Architecture before I came home to take care of my Mother. Never got a degree and my life went in a different direction after she passed. I love my job managing a Garden Centre, I buy from growers all over the province and sell to the gardeners of my town. Every week sees different flowers coming through But Art and Architecture still interest me, and it makes sense that an event that so deeply affected so much of that nation would also affect the art!

ohh, that's an amazing job!! I love gardens, especially visiting them. I'm actually rather allergic to most (all?) pollen though, so I can't keep my own... but I can manage a day out gazing on them. I imagine you get to see a lot of unique flowers!
If you ever have a kanzashi (silk flower) challenge for me, I'd be super pleased to hear your challenge. It's always interesting for me to make new flowers.
Yes, 3-11 did affect Japan rather strongly. I think the art i really moving though, and hope more people will be aware of the devastating affects nuclear power has on the environment, the people, and people's feelings about an area.

Aw, just got back from holidays, apologies for the slow reply.. It is a great job, and my one of my fav parts about it is bringing in new things every week! I think it's very cool how you've brought that beauty into your life by fabric since allergies keep you from the live items.
Some of the most interesting flowers we are selling at the moment are curcuma flowers... such an interesting structural shape in white or pink, and then in the openings you can sometimes see the tiny, delicate and shy purple flowers.
