Guru..another query session...v recently had an Industry visit from Microsoft, Apple Inc. & other IT majors.they held workshop as well as seminar sessions for IT students in our London campus...
After hearing their so called future technologies and current unemployment status in Uk said to b around 2.5 million, they had stressed on a point for Certification..
They sai tat o one can survive in tis scenario wit just an Honours degree..bt some other say Hons degree has its own value and no need 2 do Masters..
Again i wanted 2 do MBA as an industry concept qualification..bt many here r saying its a waste and deviating factor frm IT....
If so wats te actual logic behind all tis???Shld i forward wit Certifications factor frm industries rather than doing Masters or an MBA...??Coz if i need 2 do a Masters i wanna do it in Web Applc Devlp or similar sort of it...& if its certifications i wanna cover relating to tis topic too!!!

Guru, wanted to ask something related to web field..i wanna know or may b a survival kit sort of words from u regarding how to survive in te webfield??,,is it abt knowing languages,if so wat all shld i know?? Or is it abt designing aspect too..ahh creative..!.So, if i need to survive in Britain's web industry wats all shld i have in my armory??
Coz..here its not tat clear frm tutors..one says on design and aesthetic aspect..other says its Dhtml, Java etc..(not specific on how many i shld learn here)...U mst b knowing deep in tis aspect....Seeking advice..

web design is a huge place to be in.. as your clients and projects become huge.. you stick to doing what you do the best.. and let others take care of what they do best.. It is also a field where u can play many roles as well.. But you *will* have to built yourself up vertically to an extent for people to see you and take you seriously.. At the same time developing your skills horizontally as well.. You can start out with the things you are good at.. and move to other things in time..

U said abt vertical and horizontal building...as far i know i have a grip on designing factor..whereas in terms of language knowhow i shld learn in tis Degree stage....!!Bt te prob is wat shld i learn!Is it DHTML/Java as a whole or any other stuffs??..wat r te common language knowhow preferred in te industry???

Having a really good hold on HTML and CSS is a must! if you are getting into web design, whether you are doing front end stuff (User Interface, User experience, design and presentation of websites) or back end stuff ( server, databases, server side scripting).

So there itself you see a split, giving you a choice between front end or client side work like the layout and design and presentation.. or go for doing back end stuff like.. server management, or be a database administrator or jump into server side scripting with things like python, ruby, jsp, php, asp.. and a whole lot more.. of course there is more stuff to do each of these fields will require you to invest a solid amount of time in them.

like lets say for example, you start learning php.. along the way pick up MySQL for your database. then you decide to move on from core php to frameworks like Zend, maybe get a certification.. who knows.. and play around with popular CMSs like Drupal, Joomla or Wordpress.. write modules or themes.. or develop robust web application frameworks yourself.. so you see how these fields in themselves present a vertical to you..

Since you are good with design, maybe you can start learning new things.. make your HTML and CSS solid.. pick up Javascript.. play around as much as you can with it.. then move on to PHP for some dynamic web design.. then come back to Javascript and UI libraries in general keeping web standards and good design practices in mind.. then go deeper in to php and stuff.. those are just ideas.. you have to figure out a lot of things on your own..

there is work.. nothing has really gone down that bad.. for many ppl.. hmmm.. and depends on what skill set and experience u have.. when u start out if u dont have any work behind u in a particular field.. u will be considered a fresher..

for example.. lets say u are teaching design.. and u want to switch to a job where u do design.. they will not consider ur teaching experience.. so u get the drift eh.. plan out what u want to do and work accordingly..

Guru,te time is nearing for me..errr not te death well te te most turning point in my life may b te study @ England itself...
I think te emotion has transformed genetically frm Excitement 2 anxiety/tension now...!!
hardly 11 days more...i'm off 2wards England on 17th...then 2 longg years....after tat stayback, PG....*phew* i think its a huge task getting past these obstacles !!!Dunno wat all lies ahead!!!
