Sorry for the late response. I'm really struggling to reply to everything with my low mood and energy most of the time. x___X

I think not being able to meet my own expectations is the problem. I thought that by this point of my life I would have gotten somewhere, but I'm 37. I've squandered all of my time. Everyone has already reached so many milestones by the time they are my age, but all I do is watch other people live.

But I think you have gotten somewhere! I know by your standards you may not be happy with your art, but most of my art professors weren't either... Some people never are!

I think its wonderful though I know how you feel - trying to be satisfied with my art is a big hurdle to get over, try to look back and see how far you've come! That helps me.

Don't despair, you still have plenty of time! Maybe while you're watching other people live, you can sketch them too. That will help your art and keep you doing something - I know life drawings can be very popular.

I just want to feel slightly competent. Like to the point of being able to draw actual scenes and make little stories with my work. I guess I want my stuff to have more life to it. Maybe people will genuinely like and take interest in my characters then.

Looking back doesn't help me much since I've only slightly improved over the past 16 years on DA. Ya see other people who go from stick figures to professional in like a year or two. It makes me feel really envious.

I am legally blind and can't do life drawing like that. I'm far too nearsighted.

So now you're telling me you're legally blind and still this good? That's amazing though! 

Some advice I've been given; Try not to compare yourself, somebody who went to "Professional" In two years probably has their own issues going on and also, a big thing, they probably only post their best works while they draw like 10 times a day because they have literally nothing else to do. You could always try to improve specific things and look up tutorials and all...

but most of all, try to keep your head up! Everybody has a different experience with art - and I think yours is great. I'm in your corner here, but I don't know what or if I could say you to make you feel better other than to just hang in there... Even if your life is tough, I think you can make the best out of it if you want to
